Mashrafe Mortaza Childhood & Early Life

Mashrafe Mortaza was born on 5 October 1983 in Narail District, Bangladesh. His nickname which is very common is Koushik. Mashrafe’s father Golam Mortaza is a businessman and his mother is a housewife, her name is Hamida Mortaza. He received his early education in his hometown from Narail Govt. Primary School. In 2001, he completed his secondary study at the Narail Govt High School. After his secondary education, he entered an HSC, and in 2003 from Narail Victoria College he passed his HSC. After passing the HSC level, Mashrafe got himself admitted into the Philosophy department at Jahangirnagar University, and completed his bachelor’s degree. As a young boy, he was more interested in cricket, especially in batting, his bowling is also his main attribute and due to his bowling style he gained the nickname “Narail Express”. Mashrafe is very famous and popular in his hometown.

Mashrafe was interested in cricket when he was very young, besides badminton and football. When he was 11 years old he joined Narail Cricket Club, he joined this club with the help of Sharif Mohammad Hossain. Mashrafe was first to come into attraction during on U-17 regional tournament. In the tournament when he bowled fast slammed 6s and dived around without a care in the world.

After this attention in the U-7, during the Under-19 team, Mashrafe seized the eye of Andy Roberts, the West Indian old fast bowler, who was then the temporary bowling coach of the squad and he advised to take Mashrafe Mortaza to the Bangladesh A-Team. Mashrafe Mortaza played one match for Bangladesh, after playing this match he got the opportunity to join the Bangladesh National Team.

Mashrafe Mortaza International Career

Mashrafe Mortaza made his Test debut on 8 November 2001, against Zimbabwe at Bangabandhu National Stadium, on that match Mashrafe took 4 wickets for 106 runs. But this test match was stooped due to the rainfall and it ended with the decision to draw. Mashrafe’s One Day international debut was also against Zimbabwe on 23 November 2001 at Chittagong. The first T20I match for him was also against Zimbabwe on 28 November 2006 at Khulna Stadium. Bangladesh’s team won by 43 runs in that game.

Mashrafe was a captain in one Test and seven ODIs in between 2009 and 2010. Later Mashrafe was bound to leave his captaincy for the Bangladesh cricket team for his injury. In the absence of Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan became the Bangladesh cricket team’s captain.

Mashrafe Mortaza showed his brilliant and tremendous performances as the leading captain of the Dhaka Gladiators in the Bangladesh Premier League-BPL, Mashrafe is the winning captain of the Bangladesh Premier League for the first and second competition. Mashrafe Mortaza still is the key player for the Bangladesh Cricket Team, Mashrafe is the person, whose captaincy is liked, praised, and appreciated around the world of cricket, and his leadership is followed by the other players.

Mortaza is the captain of the Comilla Victorians and he won the first trophy for his team in the Bangladesh Premier League, BPL-2015.
