Mohammad Asif was born on 20 December 1982 in Sheikhupur, Punjab, Pakistan. He belonged to the Gujjar family in Sheikhupura. His father’s name is Hassan Deen. Asif loves to play cricket and in childhood, he was a street cricketer, he played as a fast bowler.

In the 2009-10 Pakistan tour to New Zealand and Australia, Asif was in sublime form as he took 32 wickets in the six test matches. In 2010 during Pakistan’s tour to England Asif took his 100th wicket in just his 20th Test and he set for greater glory until the calamity at Lords in the month o September. After the news about spot-fixing, in an investigation, Asif along with his teammates Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir were accused of spot-fixing.

Mohammad Asif was charged for bowling pre-planned deliberates no balls. In 2011 February, Asif was convicted at Southwark Crown Court for the conspiracy to cheat at gambling and also the conspiracy to accept corrupt payments. Mohammad Asif was sentenced to 1 year in prison and also banned from the spot for 7 years. Asif appealed unsuccessfully to minimize the years of suspension in the court but it was rejected in April 2013, Asif went on to admit that he was involved in the spot-fixing in 2013 August.

On 19 August 2015, the ICC suspended its past orders and allowed Mohammad Asif to play all formats of the matches, effective as of 2 September 2015. After the ban, Asif played his first match for the Water and Development Authority in the 3 rd round of Quaid-e- Azam Trophy 2016-17 in October 2016.
