JP Duminy Childhood and early life

JP Duminy is a stylish left-handed batsman, he is one of the most successful and talented batsmen who generally make space at the top order of the batting lineup. JP made his first-class debut in the year 2001, from Cape Cobras, when he was 17 years old. In the year 2008, JP made his Test debut against Australia at the WACA in Perth. JP Duminy at the start of Boxing Day collaborated with the tailenders to make 166 runs which were JP’s maiden Test century.

However, as time progressed, Duminy was worked out and continued to struggle for getting more runs. As he was not performed very well in the home series in 2009-10 against England, he could manage just only one fifty in eight innings.

Duminy managed consistency in the shorter formats of the matches. In the inaugural Champions League T20 tournament he was the top scoring from the Cape Cobras with an average of 112 and a striking rate of 140.

After making a comeback to the South African national team, JP, unfortunately, suffered an injury on the 1 st day of the 1 st Test match against Australia in December 2012 in Brisbane. He did not take further part in Test matches and he was ruled out for six months. He missed a big part of the season of 2013 due to his injury. From the comeback from the injury, Duminy played ODI against the Netherlands and he essayed made an unbeaten 150 runs. This brilliant performance helped him to make a position for the Champions Trophy in England. After making a place in the ODI line-up it did not take a long time for him to be back in the Test format.

Duminy was selected for the tour of Pakistan in October 2013 in the UAE. He justified his return with fifty runs. He was under pressure due to his low scores in the Test matches. But he silenced his all critics with patience by scoring 123 runs against Australia in Port Elizabeth. JP continued his struggle and tried to hold fine form, in the World T20 2014 he scored 187 in 5 innings. In June/July 2014 South Africa toured Sri Lanka, JP gave a good performance he justified with his bat by amassing a century in the 1 st Test in Galle. But once again he has been troubled by a knee injury. JP is a vital cog in the side and he is also a handy off-spinner, so the selectors of the South African teams selected him for the 50-over World Cup.

Despite hopes and expectations, JP under-performed in the 2015 World Cup, Dummy’s only notable knock came against Zimbabwe in the opening game of the tournament. He hit a scintillating 115 runs not out and also put up a record of 256 runs partnership with David Miller, this is the highest in the World Cup record for the fifth wicket partnership.
